Our History


David Webb and Jimmy Hurff, who are life-long friends, owned an information technology staffing agency in Jacksonville, Fla., and soon discovered that they didn’t have the right tools to manage their business. The hiring software they were attempting to use didn’t provide them with the staffing solutions that they needed. They compared ATS after ATS and nothing met their needs.

They wanted speed, simplicity and functionality. Both Jimmy and Dave are accomplished enterprise software engineers and developers at heart, so they turned their frustration into opportunity. They set out to create new tools that would help them to optimally manage the business, help their clients find better candidates easier and more efficiently, all while pioneering the recruiting industry. These new tools evolved into the first version of BrightMove in 2005 – an applicant tracking system built for recruiters by recruiters.

As their “side” business began to grow, they believed keeping the development and operations of BrightMove local was essential for success.

Today, BrightMove continues to grow and innovate and is headquartered in Saint Augustine Beach, Fla. Jimmy and David still own 100 percent of BrightMove and David oversees the day-to-day operations as CEO.
