Meet co-founders Jimmy and David
Dave Webb is a renowned technology innovator and leader based in Jacksonville, Florida, where he has been a pivotal figure in the tech industry for over 22 years.
As the CEO and Founder of BrightMove, Dave has played a significant role in shaping the local tech landscape. His extensive background in computer science and programming laid the foundation for BrightMove’s success, as well as his consultative services to organizations seeking enterprise-level computing solutions.
In 2019, Webb was honored as a Technology Leader of the Year by the Jacksonville Business Journal, an accolade awarded to visionaries whose expertise in technology has driven growth and innovation within their companies. This recognition highlighted the burgeoning tech sector in Jacksonville, an area often overshadowed by major, established tech hubs. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville and North Florida, Dave is passionate about the local tech community and its potential.
Jimmy Hurff is a seasoned entrepreneur and technology executive with a wealth of experience leading teams and driving innovation. As the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of BrightMove, Jimmy has been instrumental in shaping a company that delivers a suite of Software-as-a-Service products. He and his best friend and business partner, David Webb, founded BrightMove in 2003.
Based in the charming, historic town of Palmetto, Florida, just south of Tampa, Jimmy holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Florida State University. His expertise extends across entrepreneurship, enterprise software development, and data analytics, gained from over 20 years of working with organizations of all sizes in the healthcare and financial services sectors.
In his role as COO at BrightMove, Jimmy oversees the end-to-end customer journey at BrightMove, focusing on optimizing and enhancing customer experiences. He collaborates closely with product development and technology teams to deliver innovative recruiting solutions and is at the forefront of BrightMove’s Agentic AI transformation.
Outside of work, Jimmy enjoys spending time with his wife, Jessica, and their two sons, Jackson and John. An avid outdoorsman, he is also a fan of virtually any sport involving a ball. Jimmy’s dedication to his work and his passion for life make him a dynamic leader and a cherished member of the Palmetto community.

A product built from necessity
David Webb and Jimmy Hurff, lifelong friends and owners of an IT staffing agency in Jacksonville, Florida, quickly realized that the hiring softwares on the market at the time were not living up to their business needs. So, as experienced software engineers, they decided to create their own solution. BrightMove was born in 2005, an applicant tracking system tailored for recruiters, which emphasized speed, simplicity, and functionality.
As BrightMove grew, they kept operations local in St. Augustine Beach, Florida, believing it was essential for their success. Today, the company continues to expand under their ownership, with David as CEO and Jimmy as COO. Since its inception, BrightMove has earned multiple accolades, including three Stevie Awards for customer support. It has also been recognized by Software Advice, Software World, and HRO Today for its excellence in service and features. These recognitions highlight its reputation as a top-rated ATS, excelling in quality of service, talent management technology, and breadth of features.
